CHRYSANTHEMUM FESTIVAL: OCTOBER 7 – NOVEMBER 19, 2017
The ultimate color crescendo hits Longwood Gardens this fall with the annual Chrysanthemum Festival, sweeping the gardens’ indoor grounds with a rainbow of floral shades. The centerpiece of the show is a Thousand Bloom Mum, made up of more than 1,500 meticulously arranged yellow flowers on one plant. Tickets are free with garden admission. Additionally, bring the kids out to the Pumpkin Playground, where you can snap a festive fall family photo in front of an 800-pound (!) pumpkin. Other all-ages activities will also unfold at the garden’s Children’s Corner.
Newlin Grist Mill Harvest Festival
Newlin Grist Mill’s Fall Harvest Festival seeks to bring colonial America alive with a slew of different demos, including milling in the 1704 grist mill, blacksmithing, pottery spinning and English country dancing by the Heritage Dancers. Other activities include pumpkin painting, hayrides, face-painting and beer drinking at the Colonial Tavern (1-3 p.m.) with Twin Lakes Brewing Company.

Phoenixville’s Pumpkinfest is all about its namesake harvest crop. From pumpkin-pie-eating contests to pumpkin-painting contests to pumpkin derby races, the fest makes it easy to fill up on pumpkin fun all day long. A carnival with games, live music and other entertainment will also add to the day’s excitement.
